Corporal Gregory E. MacDonald

MacDonald was killed when the vehicle he was on overturned on route to help
fellow soldiers under fire on Wednesday June 25, 2003. He was 29 years old.
Lance Corporal McDonald was a life long resident of Burlington. He was a
graduate of Burlington High Class of 1991. In High School he was on the soccer
and debate teams. He worked with special needs children at Burlington’s Camp
Columbus summer camp program for a number of years. He went on to graduate from
Belmont university in Nashville Tennessee graduating in 1995 with a degree in
Philosophy and received his Graduates Degree from the American university in
Washington in 2001.
Like many college students he worked a number of part time local jobs including
Scoops Ice Cream, the Burlington Pet Center, and Café Escadrille. He had served
in the Marine Corps Reserves for the past 4 years.
He is survived by his parents, Arthur and Diana (Zieba) of Burlington. Brother
of Karen & her husband Bobby Edwards of Burlington, Mark of Washington D.C.,
and Matthew & his wife Patricia of Glencoe, IL. Grandson of Marion MacDonald
of Aurora, CO. Uncle of Abigail & Douglas Edwards and Calvin & Liam
MacDonald. Also survived by many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington, on Saturday July
5, at 10 a.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. There will be no
calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gregory’s name may be made to
Rosie’s Place, 889 Harrison Ave, Boston, MA 02118. Arrangements by the Edward
