Roger D. Rodrigues, 77

       Roger D. Rodrigues passed away at the Winchester Hospital, after a short battle with lung cancer, on Sunday, October 2, 2005. He was 77 years old. Mr. Rodrigues was born in Lowell, the son of Portuguese immigrants, the late Antonio and Maria Rodrigues. He grew up and was educated in Lowell. After high School he worked for several years as a sales clerk at Pioneer Market in Lowell. He then was inducted into the US Army during the Korean War. He had 2 years of active duty and was the recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal for his service in Germany.
     After his military service, Mr. Rodrigues married, Alice Bennett, who was a life long resident of Burlington. They settled in Burlington and started their family. They would have six children and he worked 2 jobs to support his family. He primary occupation was as a Security Guard for Raytheon. He spent 35 years with the company. He also worked part time at the Town Grocery variety store in Burlington. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife. He was a former member of the Moose. He enjoyed sports, especially football and was a big Patriots and Notre Dame fan.
     Mr. Rodrigues is the beloved husband of 52 years of Alice I. (Bennett) Rodrigues. He is the loving father of Jean Glejzer of Dracut, Patti Sawyer of Billerica, Brian Rodrigues of Dracut, Kevin Rodrigues of Burlington, Karen Quinlan of Nashua, NH and the late David Rodrigues. He is the brother of Alfred of San Jose, CA, Mary Branco of Lowell, and the Late Anthony Rodrigues and Anna Barrio. He is the father-in-law of Jeanne Rodrigues of Woburn. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, October 5 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Roger’s name may be made to ALS Association, 75 McNeil Way, Dedham, MA 02026.
