Raymond A. Papagno, a
long time member of Local 12 passed away after a long struggle
with cancer on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at the Sawtelle Family
Hospice House in Reading. He was 76 years old. Mr. Papagno was
born and raised in Quincy, the son of the late Matteo and Anna
Papagno. He went to trade school to learn the plumbing trade. He
spent most of his working career with the Plumbers Union Local
12 working on Commercial Development for companies including P.J.
Riley Co, Daniel Mazza Co, and Valley’s Steak House. During
the 1980’s he spent a few years living in Florida working at
MGM Studios and Disney World.
Mr. Papagno served in the Naval
Reserves, where he was trained as a helmsman for submarines. He
then was inducted into the Army for the Korean War. He was the
recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal
with the Japanese Clasp, the National Defense Medal, and the
Korean War Medal.
Mr. Papagno is predeceased by his wife
of 48 years, Rosaline “Rose” Papagno, who passed away in
January. He is the f ather of Pialisa Manent of Wilmington,
Paula & her husband Michael Minichiello of Burlington,
Romito “Raymond “ A. of Woburn, Pamela & her husband
Thomas Sacco of Lexington, and Stephen P. & his wife
Michelle of Burlington. Brother of Matteo of Medford, Anthony of
Marshfield, Robert of Quincy, Connie Parks of Brockton, Rachael
Pearl Papagno of Hingham, Maria Spagnaletti of CT, Anna Elrich
of Norwell, and the late Sebastian. Grandfather of Vito, Sage
& Cody Costa, Melissa, Jason, & Nicholas Manent,
Giustina Rose Sacco, and Alex & Ben Minichiello, and Stephen
Paul Papagno, Jr..
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan
Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128,
Woburn side) on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, Burlington, at 10
a.m. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Interment in Pine
Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Raymond’s name may be
made to The Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 320 Haverhill St.,
