William C. Ostrander, a resident
of Burlington for over 50 years, passed away after a long
illness at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on
Tuesday afternoon, July 5, 2005. He was 83 years old.
Mr. Ostrander was born in South Hadley, MA, the son of the late
Clifford and Catherine Ostrander. He grew up in North Hampton,
MA. He graduated from Vocational School. He was a retired
Machinist for the MBTA. He had also worked at the Riverside
Press in Cambridge and for Donahue’s Trailer and Furniture
Store in Burlington. He served in the Marines during WW II as a
Staff Sergeant. He continued commitment to the military in his
long time membership of the Disabled American Veterans
Organization. He was also a member of the Billerica Elks and
Woburn Gun Club. He enjoyed the many special memories he had
camping with his family. He enjoyed traveling and during his
retirement spending some of each winter in St. Augustine or
Venice Florida. He was happy working in his yard or reading,
especially biographies.
Mr. Ostrander is the beloved husband of
Mary E. (O’Connell) Ostrander. He is the loving father of
Karin E. Ostrander of Burlington and Kim E. Ostrander-O’Brien
& her husband Kenneth O’Brien of Ipswich. He is the
brother of Stanley and Robert Mason and the late Bernard
Ostrander and Patricia Vollinger. He leaves 3 grandchildren;
Jonathan, Emily, and Joshua O’Brien.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St.,
BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, July 8
at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St.
Margaret’s Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m.
Interment will be private. Memorials in Bill’s name may be
made to the St. Margaret’s Church Building Fund, 111 Winn St.,
Burlington, MA 01803
