Francis "Frank" X.
Leiblein, active in the Masons peacefully passed away late
Thursday afternoon, September 15th, at his home surrounded by
his family. Frank was born in Dorchester, the son of the late
Edward and Anna Leiblein. He grew up and was educated in South
Boston. He served in the Air Force during the famed Berlin
Airlift. He started his career as a truck driver for Interstate
Motor Freight. He then went to work for Graham Associates as a
Property Manager as well as manager of the Burlington Ice
Palace. He finished his career working for the Lahey Clinic's
Security Department
for 16 years. Frank was extremely active in the Masons. He
joined the Simonds Lodge of the Masons. He was involved in the
construction of the original lodge building and served as Master
of the Lodge in 1979. He was also a member of the Joseph Warren
Soley Lodge in Lincoln. He served as Master of that Lodge in
1987. He again was very active in the total renovation of the
Lodge building. He would go onto serve as District Deputy Grand
Marshall of the Masons in 1989 and 1990. He was a 32 Degree
Mason and a member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine. He also served
on the Advisory Board of the Lexington Assembly Number 34 of the
International Organization of the Rainbow for
Girls, which was a youth organization comprising girls between
the ages of 11 and 20 and sponsored by Masonic Lodges. Frank's
interests included camping, skiing, and scuba diving. He was an
avid reader, reading as many as five books a week. He enjoyed
musicals and plays. He was on the Road Race Committee while
working at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center. Frank could often be
found gardening or working in his yard. He was very talented
with his hands and mind and enjoyed the many woodworking
projects on which he worked. The ocean and all its beauty and
splendor also was a comfort throughout Frank's life. The most
special times of Frank's life were spent with his grandson
Benjamin. Frank was a devoted family person. He was married to
his wife Hazel for 53 years. They shared many interests and
trips together. He was a proud father to his daughter Jennifer
and cherished his role as a grandfather.
Frank is survived by his wife Hazel W.
(Wentworth). He is the father of Jennifer Leiblein-Martel and
her husband James of Tamworth, NH. He is the grandfather of
Benjamin Francis Martel. He is the brother of Hilda & her
husband Robert Marrigan of Bedford, Edward & his wife Audrey
Leiblein of Quincy, and the late Virginia Calhoun. He is the
brother-in-law of Lois Hembree of NM and the late Leon Hembree.
He is the uncle of the late John C. Calhoun who died during the
Vietnam War. He is also survived by several other nieces and
nieces. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan
Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128,
Woburn side) on Sunday, September 18 from 3 to 7 p.m. A Masonic
Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. and a Funeral Service at the
Funeral Home at 7 p.m with Rev. Earl Miller of the Centre Harbor
United Church of Christ, Congregational officiating. Relatives
and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be private.
Memorials in Frank’s name may be made to the VNA of
Middlesex-East & Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Avenue,
Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880. Frank was a Past Master of
Simonds Lodge of Burlington and District Deputy Grand Marshall
of the Masons.
