Ralph F. Holder passed away at the
Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Saturday afternoon, June 25,
2005. He was 83 years old.
Mr. Holder was born in Stockport Ohio. He was the son of the
late Dewey and Mary Holder. Mr. Holder was raised and educated
in Somerville. He was a graduate of Somerville High School.
Mr. Holder was a Veteran of World War
II. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 – 1946. He
was a Boswains Mate on a Mine Sweeper in the South Pacific. He
was the recipient of the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific
Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and
the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Holder was a Plumbers Apprentice
for 5 years. After completing his schooling he joined Local 12
in Boston where he worked for 50 years.
Mr. Holder and his wife Mary settled in
Burlington on June 2, 1959. They were married 57 years and would
have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this August. Mr.
Holder loved baseball and was an ardent baseball fan. Mr. Holder
was an avid walker and before his health began to decline he
could be seen walking down Rt. 62 with his dog or at the
Burlington Mall.
He is the husband of Mary (Latta). He
is the loving father of Edward & his wife Donna of Lowell,
Robert & his wife Judy of Brookline, NH, and Leslie &
her husband Guy Leva of Bradford. He is the brother of Dorothy
Fucile of Melrose. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 7
Great-Grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral
Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side)
on Tuesday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. Followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church at Noon. Visiting
hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery,
Burlington. Donations in Ralph’s name may be made to St.
Margaret’s Building Fund, 111 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803.
