Kenneth B. Canning
BURLINGTON - Kenneth B. Canning died Saturday, June 4, 2005, following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Loretta (Favareau) Canning.
     He was born in Canada in 1921. His family moved to Belmont, where he was a graduate of Belmont High School. Mr. Canning then went on to Bryant and Stratton Business School.
     He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
     Mr. Canning worked with his brother in the family's plaster business, the Canning Brothers. The business was started by his father and uncle.
     He was an avid mineralogist and studied both locally and traveled as well. He turned his hobby into a business and ran the "Best of Canning" for 10 years.
     Mr. Canning was a member of the Masons, and he loved to golf.
     He is survived by a son, Kenneth Canning and his wife, Donna, of North Andover; three grandsons; and a brother, Brenton Canning of Waltham.
     He was also the brother of the late Shirley McGowan.
     A funeral service was held June 7, at the Doyle-Lane Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
